After a successful ending of the European network for Health Technology Assessment (EUnetHTA) Project (2006-2008), lead by the Danish National Board of Health, implemented 25 partners from 13 EU member states, Norway and Switzerland the EUnetHTA Collaboration (2009) a call for a sustainable permanent HTA-collaboration across Europe.
In 2009 the EUnetHTA Collaboration, lead by Denmark, started a new co-operation with the EU-Commission. The purpose was to implement the results of the EUnetHTA Project together with a recommendation from the Pharmaceutical Forum, through a Joint European Action within HTA for the period 2010-2012.
In 2009 forwarded the EUnetHTA-Secretariat, on behalf of 33 European organisations (all 33 appointed by their respective Ministry of Health for participation in the EU-project), an application to the EU-Commission for a Joint Action within HTA.
The project was approved by the EU-Commission and the official Joint Action started on January 1st, 2010 with the Danish National Board of Health as coordinator. The project involves partners from 24 EU-member states, as well as Norway, Switzerland and Croatia.
