SNOMED CT in Denmark

The National Release Centre (NRC) manages communication about the health terminology SNOMED CT® in Denmark.

All members of the International Health Terminology Standard Development Organisation, IHTSDO, have a NRC.

A number of the tasks of the NRC are related to international obligations and to tasks that follow from communicating, administering, servicing and developing SNOMED CT. The aim is to make sure that each country has one administration of SNOMED CT that on a national level works with:

• Translation of new SNOMED CT concepts into Danish
• Creation of Danish SNOMED CT concepts
• Contact to anyone with an interest in SNOMED CT
• Administration of access to and use of SNOMED CT
• Distribution and support of SNOMED CT in the national as well as the international version (core version)
• The immediate contact to other NRC’s
• The immediate contact to IHTSDO

In each member country SNOMED CT is administered by a public health authority or an organization appointed by the authority in question. In Denmark this task is handled by The National Board of Health.
